Douglas was born in 1915. Douglas' father was Cuthbert Henry MILNE and her mother was Elizabeth Jane WARD. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry, Robert, Walter, Rita and Eva. She was the third youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 84 in 1999.
