Methodist Recorder 1928:-
Few men have a better knowledge of Methodism and Methodist ministers than Mr. A. E. Joll, who for over forty years was on the staff of the Book Room. Mr. Joll has lost count of the number of Conferences that he has attended. His was a familiar face at the Bookstall at Conference, and he had a cheery word for laymen as well as ministers. In Church work he has ever been in the van for all good causes, and he has held most of the offices open to laymen. Although he has retired from business, Mr. Joll has not retired from the service of the Master. His .advice and help in the numerous councils of the Church are greatly valued. Mr. Joll is a trustee of the Broomwood Church and is secretary for Foreign Missions to the Clapham Circuit. He is an indefatigable worker on behalf of the Worn-Out Ministers' Fund, and his energy and tact in this connection has made a considerable difference in the amount raised at Clapham for this fund. Like most men who have the world vision, he is also a great worker at the home base. His many friends all over Methodism wish him much joy in his retirement.
