George was born on March 28th, 1879 in Crayford, Bexley, Greater London, England and his baptism took place on June 2nd, 1879 at Wesleyan Chapel (Dartford), Dartford, Greater London, England conducted by Reverend G Butcher.1   George's father was George Richardson JOLL and his mother was Frances PERRY.  His paternal grandparents were Rev John Maw JOLL and Mary Jane RICHARDSON; his maternal grandparents were Thomas PERRY and Maria KINGDOM. He had six brothers and a sister, named Reginald, Frank, Len, Horace, Ernest, Cyril and Olive.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died from cancer at the age of 75 in 1954 in Rangiora, Canterbury, New Zealand.2
