Annie was born in 1856 in Wolsingham, Durham, England.¹ Annie's father was Rev John Maw JOLL and her mother was Mary Jane RICHARDSON. Her paternal grandparents were Digory JOLL and Martha MAW; her maternal grandparents were George RICHARDSON and Mary WILSON. She had two brothers and five sisters, named George, Alfred, Lucy, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth and Bertha. She was the third youngest of the eight children. She had four half-brothers named John, Samuel, Watson and William. She died at the age of 79 in 1935 in Sowerby, Thirsk, Yorkshire, England.²
