Birth Notes

William's father was Rev John Maw JOLL and his mother was Catherine Louisa CLIFFE. His paternal grandparents were Digory JOLL and Martha MAW; his maternal grandparents were John CLIFFE and Elizabeth. He had three brothers named John, Samuel and Watson. He was the youngest of the four sons. He had two half-brothers and six half-sisters, named George, Alfred, Lucy, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, Annie and Bertha. He died at the age of 5 in 1846 in Snaith, Yorkshire, England.²
