Alice was born on April 16th, 1856 in South Reston, Lincolnshire, England.¹ Alice's father was William HAY and her mother was Elizabeth DAWSON. Her maternal grandparents were George DAWSON and Elizabeth JOLL. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, George, Herbert, Frederick, Alfred, Walter, Septimus, Lizzie, Matilda and Mary. She was the oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 16 on June 21st, 1872 in South Reston, Lincolnshire, England. She was buried at the South Reston Churchyard, South Reston, Lincolnshire, England.¹
