Death Notes
In our obituary columns we have to announce the death of the Rev. Samuel Joll, which took place on the 14th inst. Deceased, who had reached the ripe age of 75 years, bad been for great number of years and up to his death a Wesleyan minister, although for the past year he was on the supernumerary list and had been confined for some months to the house through affliction. The deceased being member of the Wesleyan body, it was the wish of his friends that their superintendent minister should conduct a portion of the burial service. but not the whole. The matter was mentioned to the vicar, and he willingly consented to what they desired, and on Monday Afternoon the funeral procession, which was attended by goodly number of Wesleyans, halted at the Wesleyan, Chapel, where a portion of the burial service was conducted by the Rev. G. Butcher. On leaving there and arriving the Trinity Church gate, the Vicar met the corpse and commenced to read the other portion of the service, and at the grave a hymn was given out by Mr. Butcher, “Come let us join our friends above," in which the Vicar joined.
